Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

This policy applies to everyone who uses LongTable (club officers, members, and visitors to club websites we host) and is part of our Terms of Service. Each club sets its own community standards and enforces them within its club; LongTable enforces this policy across the platform. When a problem is inside one club, the club's officers are usually the right first stop. When it violates the rules below, it's ours.

The short version, at a glance

  • Be lawful and decent: no violence, harassment, hate, or exploitation.
  • Message people who expect to hear from your club, and honor every opt-out.
  • Stay in your own club: no snooping, scraping, or breaking things.
  • Anything that endangers a child is zero-tolerance and gets reported to the authorities.
  • See something? Tell your club's officers, or tell us.

The short version is a summary, not the policy. The sections below govern.

1. The basics 2. Prohibited activities 3. Messaging rules 4. Club websites 5. Child safety 6. Payments integrity 7. Use of the assistant 8. Account security 9. Reporting violations 10. How we enforce this policy 11. Updates to this policy 12. Contact

1. The basics

Wherever you are on LongTable (the roster, a message, an event page, a club site), you may not post content or behave in ways that involve:

  • violating laws or regulations, or the intellectual-property or personal rights of others;
  • violence, threats of violence, or threats of harm;
  • harassment or attacks on a person or community based on attributes such as race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age, or disability;
  • sexual exploitation of any kind, including any sexualization of minors, sex trafficking, or forced labor;
  • defamatory or obscene content;
  • posting someone's personal information without their permission;
  • sharing confidential information you don't have the right to share, such as information you're bound by a contract or a duty of confidence to protect; or
  • viruses, malware, phishing, or spam.

This policy also covers attempts, and anything someone else does on your behalf. An attempted or indirect violation counts the same as a direct one.

2. Prohibited activities

  • Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, another club or its officers, or a LongTable representative. (Officer roles in your club are assigned by the club, and claiming one you don't hold counts.)
  • Unauthorized access. Attempting to access accounts, other clubs' data, or LongTable systems without authorization. Each club's space is its own; membership in one club grants you nothing in another.
  • Scraping and data mining. Using automated tools to scrape, harvest, or collect data from the platform or from hosted club sites without our explicit permission. Roster data is for running your club, not for export into someone's marketing list.
  • Interference. Disrupting the platform or degrading other users' experience, including probing, scanning, or testing the security of the service, flooding or overloading it (such as a denial-of-service attack), monitoring or intercepting data or traffic you aren't authorized to see, or circumventing technical protections, rate limits, or plan limits.
  • Forged or disguised origin. Forging message headers or sender information, or otherwise disguising where content you send through LongTable came from.
  • Misleading names. Using a club name, subdomain, custom domain, or account name that infringes a trademark or is likely to confuse people about who runs the club or who sponsors or endorses it.
  • Ban evasion. Creating a new account, extra logins, or a new club to get around a suspension, a termination, or a limit on your account.
  • Deception and fraud. Deliberately spreading false or misleading information likely to cause harm, or misrepresenting what a payment collects money for.
  • Unwanted commercial solicitation. Using club tools to push unsolicited advertising or promotions, unless the club itself permits it within its own membership.

3. Messaging rules (email and SMS)

LongTable's messaging tools exist so clubs can reach their own people. Using them for anything else is the fastest way to lose access to them:

  • Send only to people with a real relationship to your club: members, applicants, event registrants, and people who asked to hear from you. No purchased, rented, or scraped lists. Ever.
  • Honor every opt-out, promptly and permanently. SMS recipients can reply STOP; that stop is final until they opt back in.
  • Text only members who agreed in LongTable to get texts from your club (a phone number on the roster isn't agreement), and keep texts to club business. You're responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your club's messaging (in the U.S., CAN-SPAM and the TCPA; in Canada, CASL).
  • Identify your club honestly in everything you send, with no misleading sender names or subject lines.

If a club's sending patterns look like abuse (spam complaints, opt-out violations, list-bombing), we may pause its sending while we investigate. That protects deliverability for every club on the platform.

4. Club websites and published content

Clubs publish their own websites on LongTable, at a LongTable subdomain or their own custom domain. The club is the publisher and is responsible for its content, including having rights to the photos, text, and logos it uses. In addition to the rules above, club sites may not host content that is illegal, infringing, deceptive, or designed to collect visitors' personal information under false pretenses. We may remove published content that violates this policy; where practical we'll tell the club's officers what was removed and why.

5. Child safety

Many LongTable clubs serve families and young people. We have zero tolerance for content or behavior that endangers a child, anywhere on the platform. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any content that depicts, encourages, or promotes the sexual abuse or exploitation of children.
  • Predatory behavior: any inappropriate interaction targeting a child, including grooming, sexualization of minors, or sextortion.
  • Child trafficking: any advertising, solicitation, or facilitation of the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

On discovery of such content or behavior we will act immediately, which may include removing the content, permanently banning the account, reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant regional authority as U.S. law requires, and cooperating with law enforcement. LongTable maintains a designated child safety point of contact who receives child-safety reports and is positioned to act immediately. Reach them through our contact form.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first. Then report the content to us through our contact form or the in-app report option.

Clubs that roster minors are additionally responsible for parental consent and for supervising youth participation, as described in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

6. Payments integrity

  • Use the payment tools only to collect real dues, event fees, and club fundraising, accurately described and paid to the club.
  • No money laundering, fake or deceptive fundraising, or collecting for categories prohibited by our payment partner's rules, e.g. Stripe's Prohibited & Restricted Businesses list.
  • Don't use LongTable to evade taxes or misrepresent a payment's purpose (for example, labeling commercial sales as charitable donations).
  • If your club passes the LongTable platform fee on to the people it bills, show it accurately on the invoice, and do it only where card-network rules and the law allow it.
  • Disagreements and disputes about money between a club and the people it bills are between them and go through Stripe, not LongTable (see the Terms of Service, section 4). Report misuse of the payment tools to us; LongTable doesn't decide individual payment disputes.

7. Use of the assistant

The LongTable assistant is for running your club. Don't use it to generate content that violates this policy, to compose spam, or to attempt to extract other clubs' or members' data. Assistant actions you approve are your club's actions and are held to every rule on this page.

8. Account security responsibilities

  • Use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential. Every officer gets their own login, so don't share credentials, even between officers.
  • Sign out on shared devices, and keep the devices you use reasonably secure.
  • Report unauthorized access or suspicious activity promptly through our contact form.
  • When an officer leaves the role, hand off the role, not the login. Role handoff moves the permissions and keeps the club history accurate.

9. Reporting violations

  • Inside your club: for member conduct within a club, start with the club's officers, who set and enforce the club's own standards.
  • To LongTable: report platform-level violations, or anything a club won't or can't handle, through our contact form (for child-safety reports, choose Child safety report). Include what happened, where (URL, club name, page), when, and screenshots if you have them.

Reports help us decide where to act. We can't promise to act on every report, or a specific timeline, reply, or outcome, but we review every child-safety report, and child-safety and security reports are handled with priority.

10. How we enforce this policy

Consequences depend on the nature, severity, and frequency of the violation, and may include:

  • a warning;
  • removal of the violating content;
  • pausing a club's message sending;
  • temporary suspension of an account or feature;
  • permanent termination of an account (see the Terms of Service for what happens to a club's data); and
  • referral to law enforcement and legal action for serious violations.

Where a violation is one member's conduct inside an otherwise healthy club, we'll work with the club's officers rather than punish the whole club. LongTable retains discretion in determining the appropriate response. We may monitor, review, and remove content, and investigate possible violations, but we have no obligation to do so.

11. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform and the law evolve. For substantive changes we'll give notice through the platform or by email, and post the revised policy here with a new effective date. Continued use of LongTable after the effective date accepts the updated policy.
